Set down under the mangrove canopy, disturbing scarcely a branch, Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya gives the impression that it grew out of the very forest it calls home. Its guest rooms, casitas and suites lie nestled in a tropical wood surrounded by the calm, ever-present waters of lush lagoons, while some private suites stretch out to a pristine white beach.

The Fairmont Mayakoba's lavish Riviera Maya accommodations include 401 elegant rooms including 34 Suites located in a traditional low-rise hotel building and clustered throughout the property in 90 two-story Casitas with two to four rooms each.

Accomodations categories range from generous Fairmont rooms to Presidential Suites.

With the ambiance of a gracious Mexican home, our luxury amenities include comfortable Fairmont beds and expansive bathrooms, each with a soaker tub and a separate glass-walled shower stall. Large sliding doors open to furnished balconies or terraces, and all rooms offer both air conditioning and ceiling fans.

Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya casual elegance couples harmoniously with the natural surroundings, evoking the subtle mysteries and bewitching allure of Mexico’s Riviera Maya
Tucked in and around a ribbon of crystal clear waterways, Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya is literally in the center of a new Caribbean luxurious gated community. Opened in 2006, the distinctive nature of this Fairmont resort is evident from the moment you arrive. To maintain the authenticity and delicate ecology, vehicles are parked at the entrance to the property and all other transport throughout the Fairmont Mayakoba is accomplished via covered boats called lanchas, electric golf carts, bicycles or on foot. Sheltered under the forest canopy, the 401-room property's distinguishing features include a Willow Stream spa with treetop treatment areas, a secluded beach alongside one of the world's largest reefs, signed nature trails and an array of restaurants and lounges.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts manages the neighboring 18-hole El Camaleón designed by Greg Norman, site of the only official PGA TOUR event held outside US or Canada, the Mayakoba Golf Classic.

El Camaleón was developed with all levels of players in mind, offering unique hazards and challenging greens along with a practice and learning facility and a minimum of five tee blocks on each and every hole. Rightly named for its diverse layout and ever-changing landscape, which bends through tropical jungles, dense mangroves and oceanfront stretches of sand, this masterpiece designed by golf legend Greg Norman serves as the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable golf vacation!

A 20,000 square foot Willow Stream spa features 20 treatment rooms including a unique couple's suite in the treetops, plus two mineral pools and steam rooms. A thoughtfully crafted menu of services includes exclusive Willow Stream treatments, some of which incorporate indigenous ingredients and ancient native traditions, as well as the award-winning spa’s signature experiences.

Truly unspoiled, the sugar-soft beach at the Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya is reached via a pathway across the mangrove and gentle dunes - a pleasant stroll or ride from the main resort building and just steps from the beachfront casitas. There are five swimming pools throughout the property including a 10,000 square foot free-form pool and waterslide, a children's play pool, and an adults-only infinity edge pool overlooking the lagoon.

Dining options include La Laguna Grill & Bar, an al fresco restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a tropical atmosphere and featuring a cozy lounge; Las Brisas (AAA Four Diamond), an elegant seaside restaurant featuring contemporary seafood; El Puerto (AAA Four Diamond), located in the main building; and Café Maya, a sunrise-to-sunset market cafe. Tropical cocktails, sushi and live music are offered in the Lobby Lounge and guests can swim up to the bar at Las Olas. All day in-room dining is also available.

Sustainable menus
Fairmont Mayakoba has made a commitment to the environment and to sourcing local, organic and sustainable items wherever possible. As such, we are committed to offering sustainable seafood choices on our menus.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts have continually aligned with reputable seafood watch organizations, and use them as a guide when choosing the fish to be offered on hotel menus. At The Fairmont Mayakoba, we work with Ocean Leader S.A., which purchases Caribbean lobster (Panulirus argus) from the Punta Allen co-operative, within the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. This co-operative applies special techniques to capture the lobster in a sustainable manner, thus being able to maintain and even increase the lobster population in the area. Thanks to this innovative method where young and female lobsters are spared, this kind of fishing is scientifically qualified as sustainable. Through the purchase of sustainable lobster, Fairmont Mayakoba supports the economic development of the local communities within the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve and offers its guests the best fish and seafood options in the region.

Additionally, Fairmont Mayakoba ensures that its seafood vendors comply with all legal requirements, by asking them for all pertinent permits and refraining from the purchase of products that are seasonally banned.

At Fairmont Mayakoba, we have identified the optimal choices for this region as the Mero (i.e. Grouper), the Huachinango (i.e. Red Snapper) and the Boquinete (i.e. Caribbean Reef Snapper), and proudly serve them on our menu.

If you are interested in learning more about sustainable seafood choices, please contact our Executive Chef David Andrews at [email protected]
