The Royal Kona Resort offers well-appointed guestrooms in the Alii, Bay and Lagoon Towers. The Alii Tower with the open-air lobby, Front Desk, Don the Beachcomber signature restaurant, Don's Mai Tai Bar and sundry shop are located in the center building. The Bay Tower is the north building closest to the village of Kailua-Kona and houses the massage and spa center. The Lagoon Tower is the south building located next to the private beach and saltwater lagoon. Located in the Lagoon Tower are the beauty salon and self-service laundry room. Each guestroom offers 390 square feet and each corner king room offers 450 square feet of living space.

The legendary “Don the Beachcomber”, Donn Beach, originated the concept of Tiki restaurants and bars. Inspired by his travels to the Caribbean and South Pacific, Beach opened the first of many South Seas inspired establishments in 1933 around the end of prohibition.
