TORONTO - Coach Canada says its 15 new double-decker buses, worth $11 million and being rolled out this week on the busy Toronto-Montreal route, offer a more comfortable ride and an improved environmental impact.
Made by the Belgian company Van Hool, the buses replace double-decker coaches introduced by Coach Canada in 2009. They will also be used between Toronto and Buffalo, N.Y., with a stop at Buffalo airport.
Two extra tires at the rear make for a smoother ride, the company says. As well, emissions have been cut. The 81-passenger vehicles feature power outlets and free Wi-Fi.
Coach Canada offers 14 departures daily in each direction between Toronto and Montreal with a stop in Kingston, Ont. One-way fares range from $10 to $92, a spokesperson said.
Between Toronto and Buffalo there are six departures daily in each direction, with one-way fares ranging from $1 to $26.
