RESERVE PARADISUS VARADERO ONLINE
“ Hotel was OK! And just ok.”
The paradisus is a very old hotel. I will say that the food and bar selection is outstanding for Cuba or the Caribbean in general. The ammenties at the hotel though are very rustic. The rooms are very weathered, and the bed was likely just a bit softer than the tile floor. We had to get more pillows because our hips were bruising on the mattress.
The hotel has a new Royal Service side, which we did spend a night in and it was incredible, 7 stars. That is clearly where all the maintenance money is going.
We also had a chance to walk down to 10 other resorts, every resort was much much newer and had nicer facilities, albeit the food was not nearly as good as the Paradisus Varadero.
The managers try very hard to correct problems, but they struggle as it seemed that 2 people were overseeing all of the 200 staff. A number of the staff were AWESOME, others could be very rude and brash. Shopping at the cigar store reminded me of getting yelled at by a football coach to "CHOOSE FASTER". I mean I did only give them $500 in business.
I would not recommend staying away from this resort, but I would caution anyone to consider the other available options.. I can definitely understand why there are such mixed reviews on this hotel, it has so much going for it, but a lot going against it. I would go back to this hotel, but only staying in the Royal Service Resort.
