Tour East Holidays reaches new heights with Tibet Rail Journey

Canada's largest organizer of Asian vacations has announced it will use China's new ultra-modern $4.2 billion Qinghai-Tibet Railway to get its guests to Tibet's capital of Lhasa – a magnificent two-day journey from Beijing – on its popular “Roof of the World” tour.

Along the way, sleek new pressurized cabins take visitors to new heights as they pass through China's awesome mountainous countryside, 4,000 metres above sea level. Tour East's five-night trip to the Roof of the World starts in Beijing where guests board the world's highest railway to Lhasa. Once in Lhasa, travellers will see the historic monasteries the city is known for as well as intermingle with the friendly people of Tibet in the city’s colourful market.

The “Roof of the World” journey is priced at $1,100 and runs from April to November 2007.
